During these difficult times many of us have had no option but to set up their home office without having the time to plan ahead. In order to concentrate, one must find a secluded space away from distractions that may include other family member, tv and snacks.
- Chase light.Try to find a space where natural light is abundant. Natural light is important in the work-space since it is linked to positive moods, increased energy and an overall improvement in the quality of life.Photo: Michael Moran from Architectural Digest website
- Be a minimalist. The average person would not have the luxury to set up an office in an independent room. Most of us would double use the guests’ bedroom as their office. Do not over clutter the room with too much shelving or fancy furniture. Go for a light colour scheme to help the natural light bounce inside the room. Open shelves are easily accessible and practical; with different lined up books and files, you will be introducing colour to your room which will add to your touch.
- Be playful. After-all you will be spending most of the day inside your office. Adding plants, flowers or your favourite photograph will spice up your room. Choosing accessories such as a desk lamp that is to your liking will add up to achieving the desired atmosphere.
There is no perfect formula however creating a pleasant home office will surely boost your concentration and creativity and therefore such a room or space does require special attention. When working from home becomes the norm, as you will realize that you are being more proactive and efficient. You are also saving ample travelling time [and traffic  stress] which will allow you to concentrate on other things that may benefit you personally!
